VOTE: What do we really know?

Is there more misinformation and disinformation than ever before? Was it this bad before the era of social media “news” gathering? How do we know whether anything is true considering the echo-chamber algorithm served up to each of us through feeds and reels and tweets (are they called that anymore?)?

I know how I intend to vote, and I believe these ballot choices will best support my belief systems and hopes for cultural improvement and stability. Well, I hope that my puny vote adds to others and that we’ll hold back the disaster of right-wing fundamentalist bigotry, misogyny, and autocracy threatening to decimate what’s left of the American dream. American hope. American possibility.

If I don’t get my way will I stay? I cannot imagine another four years in a country that elects a man with a history of criminal activity, sexual assault, lies, racism, and ignorance. I cannot fathom why anyone, anywhere would lower themselves to support such a hideous individual. This is even more disappointing than the man himself – the number of followers still pretending he’s their lord and savior.

I predict that we’ll discover, years from now, that social media, and certain entertainment-“news” outlets were all part of a socio-political experiment about mind-control. LSD didn’t really work (MK Ultra), so they just moved on to television and technology – the addictions we were already dependent upon. I know. Sounds like a conspiracy theory – like 5G, or Russian election interference, or vaccine chip implantation, or chemtrails. Aren’t conspiracy theories fun? Which of these might be true, though? Don’t stay up all night pondering. There’s more TV to watch.

So many questions. I no longer understand anything in this world. In this life. Did I ever have a clue? Perhaps not.

Please just go out and vote. I don’t care who you vote for. Just make the tiniest effort to ensure that you’re registered, and do your civic duty in this ONE election.

Vote.
