And Just Like That…

Life returns to normal. Work continues as usual. Autumn arrives, thank goodness. Nights cool enough to require a comforter.

A duvet cover without a comforter inside is just a sheet.

A travel partner living in another state is just a distant friend.

The desert without 18 hours of blazing sun is rather comfortable.

Recent rains have soothed everything here in the land of sand. Goathead weeds, a.k.a puncture vines, are spreading, sprouting adorably invasive yellow flowers, distributing vicious prickly seeds to wound shoes and feet.

People live in rural places for a reason. I guess I’m one of them now. Here. It’s easy to live here because options are limited. Perhaps with fewer distractions I can figure out how to heal.

A state without mental healthcare providers is a different type of desert.
