Creativity and COVID-19

Along the Rio Grande near Truth or Consequences, NM

Creativity used to be such a huge part of my life, but depression and busy-ness has edged it out over the past year. I’ve been teaching myself to paint – by painting. I’ve been meeting new friends on similar paths, exploring yoga as a way of life, and planning travel. I live in an RV – I need to be RV-ing!

Today, I’m working, breathing, collecting my consciousness to be in each moment.

I wrote this song back in March of 2020, at the very beginning of a year no one could have predicted. My instructional design friends will have a special understanding of the second verse. Now, in May of 2021, most of my friends and I are vaccinated, and able to cautiously meet in person again, gather in small groups, venture out into the world, and resume life.

Seek beauty in the tiniest places, in the quietest birds’ songs, in the last moments of light, in the Springtime perfume lingering beneath flowering limbs, in the dances of neighboring corvids seeking affection, in the whispering clouds before rain spills out.
